On April 29, 2008, "009" premiered at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY) with 73 other youth-made films to wide notice, many nice comments, and much encouragement. Noah and Ben enjoyed meeting, talking to, and (most of all) seeing the films of the other filmmakers.

"009" was one of five films to earn a nomination for festival's biggest award, the Thomson Young Innovator of the Year. Ben was also the youngest director of the festival that included many films from high schoolers and college students. Ballard High and the University of Southern California film school were especially well represented.

"I am so impressed [...]!! How much time did they invest in the movie? It’s pretty amazing what they have managed to do….congratulations!!"

Rocket Scientist, Pasadena, CA

"I thought the film was fun and cute. I loved the little details: the washing machine in the opening credits, the books in the Calzone guy's office, Mt. Doeadeer, etc. I couldn't help but admire what an enormous amount a work it would be to put this together for any two people, let alone two kids. Great job!
I look forward to seeing future Slugco productions."

“Wow—this is great! Sound effects and music are great. The ending is fantastic! Very impressive. [...] Kudos to Ben and Noah.”

“[A] job very well done!!”

Official Slugco Log Line:

Secret Agent 009, Pewee Bon, pits his cool cunning and clever gadgets against the forces of evil villain Dr. Mort to recover the Incredibly Easy To Steal Diamond. Humor and special effects (live action, animation, CGI) create microcinema of epic proportions."

Official Slugco 125-Word Synopsis:

'009' is microcinema of epic proportions. With glossy style and a BANG we meet Pewee Bon (Noah Hirsch), Secret Agent 009. His nemesis? Super villain Dr. Mort (Ben Kadie). With explosive shoot outs and a hair-raising car chase, the 12-year-old filmmakers capture the humor of larger-than-life action films.

Filmed and edited over eight months, with six principle shooting days, the movie contains more than a dozen characters, incredibly played by a cast of two. Bringing writer/director Ben Kadie’s vision to life required ambitious special effects including compositing, matte paintings, and animation. A climatic chase scene combines live action and CGI cars.

The team’s 2007 movie, 'Perilous Skies' received numerous screenings. They were the youngest ever winners of the Seattle Times' Three-Minute Masterpiece Contest.

Official Slugco 250-Word Synopsis:

'009' is microcinema of epic proportions. With glossy style and a BANG we meet Pewee Bon (Noah Hirsch), Secret Agent 009. His nemesis? Super villain Dr. Mort (Ben Kadie). When Dr. Mort pilfers the Incredibly-Easy-To-Steal-Diamond', 009 must try to retrieve the diamond and save the world. On one side, Mr. Bon fights with astonishing miniature gadgets, outdated training films, and cool cunning. On the other, Dr. Mort leads an army of henchmen from an Austrian mountain lair that conceals a weapon of deadly capabilities. With explosive shoot outs and a hair-raising car chase, the 12-year-old filmmakers capture the humor of larger-than-life action films.

Filmed and edited over eight months, with six principle shooting days, and a budget of $100, the movie contains more than a dozen characters, incredibly played by a cast of two. The film features an original soundtrack composed by family friend David Hovel. The movie also includes perhaps this year's slickest animated titles involving a major appliance.

Bringing writer/director Ben Kadie's vision to life required ambitious visual and sound effects. The movie includes extensive compositing and matte paintings. Animation powers Bon's gadgets and his superhuman fighting skills. A climatic chase scene combines live action and CGI cars - stunt driven by a 12 year old.

Ben and Noah's 2007 movie, 'Perilous Skies', received numerous screenings including the kickoff for the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY). They were also the youngest ever winners of the Seattle Times' Three-Minute Masterpiece Contest, Youth Division.

Chapter 5:

San Diego, CA

“I nominate it for best use of a pneumatic or simulated pneumatic cat transport device in a evil villain bomb sequence.”

Chicago, IL

“Very slick. I especially admire your choices in haberdashery, and the bow ties are nothing to sneeze your nose at (if I may risk ending my sentence with a preposition). Nicely done!”

Chapter 3:

Peoria, IL

“How extraordinarily talented these young men are! Their future is unlimited. In 009 chapter 3, they demonstrate a wonderful sense of humor and an amazing technical sophistication. I'm looking forward to their next chapter.”

Bellevue, WA

“Snazzy music and costumes! I can’t wait to meet Dr Mort – he sounds like a fun guy.”

Chapter 2:

Completely unbiased uncle of Ben and owner of the electric car that used to be on the poster.

“Cool Stuff and wow what a beautiful car on the poster. If it were electric it would be the perfect car. ”

Chapter 1:

An unbiased review by Ben’s father:

“With glossy style  and a BANG, Chapter 1 introduces Agent 009. The 12-year-old filmmakers offer the humor of larger-than-life action leading to evident damage of their filming locale. The chapter ends with the slickest titles involving a major appliance that this reviewer has ever had the pleasure to see. I look forward to future chapters, hoping the filmmakers will be able to create a villain worthy of the skilled and composed Agent 009.”

Film professional in LA:

"I like it a lot, I can’t wait to see the other chapters."
